New Resident in Our Wind Turbine in Olen
In 2019, we built our own wind turbine on Industrielaan in Olen. Bolckmans Group invested in the construction and development of the wind turbine and continues to manage its operations. Each year, our wind turbine provides green electricity to 1,100 households.
Passersby may have already noticed, but our wind turbine recently welcomed a new resident. The most famous gnome in Belgium, Kabouter Wesley, now shines brightly on the turbine!
For Jonas Geirnaert, this was no ordinary project. “Since the launch of Kabouter Wesley in 2008, I’ve received countless unique requests for guest appearances - ranging from a video game and book covers to the bow of a sailboat and even a GPS voice (luckily, that one never happened). A wind turbine wasn’t on the list yet, so when I was asked to decorate one with a giant Kabouter Wesley drawing, I didn’t hesitate. Sustainable energy is a topic close to my heart, which made it even more exciting. That’s probably why Kabouter Wesley is a bit less foul-mouthed than usual, but I’m really proud of the drawing.”
