‘Bolckmans Group is a Large Company with a Familial Character,’ Says Terrendis
Pre-insulated plastic pipes have been used in Scandinavia for three to four decades, but Europe is still catching up. This technology is becoming increasingly crucial to meet climate targets. Terrendis’ pipes connect energy sources directly to users, replacing the European tradition of equipping each house with its own boiler. “Scandinavia learned its lessons from the 1973 oil crisis and focused on district heating networks. In Europe, we’ve invested less in shared heating solutions. The technology isn’t new, but today it’s absolutely essential for the climate,” explains Managing Director Pascal Verbeke.

Terrendis is a global player, standing out with its flexible and responsive service. Based in Ghent, the company’s relatively small team can produce and ship quickly. For this to work, location and building facilities were critical. Verbeke recalls: “When I founded Terrendis in 2015, I was looking for a location near Ghent, as it’s a good logistics hub and has a strong plastics industry cluster.”
Since Terrendis produces a highly specific product, they needed a custom-built facility. That’s how Terrendis partnered with Bolckmans Group, which had the perfect location. Terrendis joined the design process and collaborated to develop a unit tailored to their production needs. “Bolckmans Group was a major asset for us; they accelerated our start-up. Construction began in June, and by October, we were able to begin production. Our unit was fully completed in just six months. I’m very satisfied with the support and framework they provided,” Verbeke reflects.
Even after the completion, Bolckmans Group remained a loyal partner for Terrendis. “We have clear agreements with Bolckmans Group for maintenance and complete peace of mind. They stay close to their tenants and truly understand where we are and where we want to go. I’ve found a very professional partner in Bolckmans Group with a listening ear. Despite their size, the company still has a familial character. You can feel it—it eases our workload and allows us to focus on our core business,” concludes Verbeke.
